Sharapova, Bartoli back on court amid US Open rain

NEW YORK (AP) ? Maria Sharapova is trying to shift momentum after a rain delay for the second straight match at this year's U.S. Open.

The third-seeded Russian resumed her quarterfinal against Marion Bartoli on Wednesday a day after it was suspended during the first set. They started nearly two hours late Wednesday when more rain delayed play.

The 11th-seeded Bartoli was leading 4-0. In the fourth round Sunday, Sharapova was down a break in the third set to Nadia Petrova before rallying after an hour-long break.

Next on the Arthur Ashe Stadium schedule is the resumption of another rain-interrupted match: the one that determines whether Andy Roddick's career lasts any longer.

He was in a first-set tiebreaker with Juan Martin del Potro when play was halted Tuesday night. More rain is in the forecast, though.
