GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- The Jingle Bell 5k and Kid's 1k race got more than 100 residents out in the cooler temperatures Saturday morning to benefit one local nonprofit.Officials say the race has been going on for at least five years, making it a great way to kick off the holiday season by helping out one local organization.
"We chose Roice-Hurst Humane Society. There are so many great charities and events going on around the holidays, asking people to give, and we wanted to make sure we're taking care of Mesa County animals as well," said Pete Ashman, recreation coordinator with the City of Grand Junction.
Participants donated cat and dog food to be eligible for the raffle and gift give aways.
All the animal food will be donated to Roice-Hurst Humane Society.
